Immunotherapy is one of the known treatments for Candida yeast infection. This treatment, although it is one dimensional, has been proven effective. While undergoing such treatment, infected patients are asked to keep away from consuming foods that are filled with yeast and sugar. Doctors also prescribe allergenic substance, usually in doses that are diluted, through oral drops and injection. This is done to improve the immune system.
This method, also known as the Enzyme Potentiated Desensitization (EDP) was first developed and initiated by Len McEwan, M.D. in London during the mid-60s’. Now, the latest treatment on this form is known as Low Dose Allergens (LDA).
There are three injections that are normally given to patients under this treatment. The three injections are given every two months for almost two years. This depends on the response of the patients on the therapy.
How is the treatment process?
Before the initial injection, patients will be prescribed with Sporanox, an anti-fungal intended for Candida infections, that they will take for ten days. They will also be given De-Nol, that is an agent for anti-gastric ulcer. It weakens the Candida so that its roots will not be planted in the linings of the mucus on the intestinal tract.
Three days before the patients get their first injection, they will be asked to keep away from food allergens. They will also be asked to take food supplements such as Folic acid, Vitamins D3, and Zinc. These make the EPD affective.
EDP treatment responses are different from patient to patient. There are those who encounter sudden but temporary improvements. However, others increase their dosages until they get improvements.
However, EPD is just a temporary treatment for candida. It is only one-dimensional, that only gives attention to the dietary aspect and the factor of allergy reaction that boost the growth of candida. It is even not favorable to those who have bacterial infections, systematic candida, and gut problems.
You have to tackle over the main factor that contributes to the growth of candida, meaning the internal roots of its growth. Once done, you will notice an improved vision and an increased energy.
EDP and Yeast infections
Some other things you must know about the EDP is its invasive procedures. Invasive because its uses injections, can sap your energy because of its strict regulations, takes a lot of your time, can be expensive and not a long-term solution for your recurrent yeast infections. Therefore you cannot always guarantee yourself when you will be vulnerable again to the symptoms brought about by different yeast infections such as vaginal itching, oral thrush and other Candida yeast infections.
What is more alarming about the use of EDP is that during treatment your immune system will be at stake and this can allow other infectious diseases to invade your body and cause other complications.
However, the positive side of using EDP is that most of those who are frequent sufferers of Candidiasis and other forms of Candidal infections can find sure relief with its procedures. This is why EDP can be one of the last resorts if you are having persistent yeast infections and cannot find the right cure and remedies from other methods. EDP can eliminate the boring and tasking procedure of treating yourself with different medications that include oral and topical drugs. Today, some patients who are undergoing EDP treatment also take herbal diet or supplement to further boost their immune system. Herbal cure is also another way of treating Candidiasis because just like EDP it can improve our overall health and it is safer and more potent than the conventional antifungal treatments.
Diet is also another good factor that should support your EDP treatment to make it successful. Ask your doctor if you can be allowed to eat foods that are very potent in controlling Candidal growth such as garlic, cloves, whole grain, lactobacillus foods and any food that you can further your immune system. Do yourself some exercises too to build yourself a strong body.
